Airbnb is partnering with Miami-based housing developer, Newgard Development Group to build a 324-unit home-sharing friendly housing community in Kissimmee, FL (just outside of Orlando). This marks the first housing development Airbnb will be responsible for designing from top-to-bottom. The community will include keyless entry and shared common spaces among other features. This is a move by the company to support Airbnb’s Friendly Building program which appeals to landlords and developers to allow for home-sharing in their buildings and communities. Critics of Airbnb feel that they’ve lost control of their properties.
